Blanchards Bailey Announces New Charity Partnership with Dorset County Hospital

Blanchards Bailey is pleased to announce Dorset County Hospital Charity as our new Charity Partner, supporting its Emergency & Critical Care Appeal over the next two years. As a firm rooted in Dorset, we are committed to fundraising for this vital project, which will strengthen essential healthcare services for the local community now and for future generations.

Dorset County Hospital provides essential hospital services to around 300,000 people across Weymouth and Portland, West and North Dorset, as well as Purbeck. Demand on its Emergency Department has grown significantly to a now pressing capacity of treating over 52,000 attendances in 2024/25, whereas it was originally built for 22,000 patients a year.

To address this, a new £100 million Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit is due to open in 2027, the largest investment in hospital facilities in West and North Dorset for 25 years. Dorset County Hospital Charity’s £2.5 million Emergency & Critical Care Appeal will help fund enhanced facilities and equipment, including paediatric bed space and associated equipment, improved relatives’ rooms, dedicated child and adolescent mental health facilities, staff rest areas and a therapeutic Winter Garden.

Paul Dunlop, Managing Partner at Blanchards Bailey LLP, said: “Through this partnership, our staff will join our clients and business partners in a series of fundraising activities and events across the next two years. By working together, we hope to play a meaningful part in helping Dorset County Hospital deliver the very best possible environment for patients, their families and NHS staff.”

Head of Dorset County Hospital Charity, Simon Pearson, said: “We are very grateful that Blanchards Bailey has chosen to support Dorset County Hospital Charity for the next two years. The Emergency and Critical Care Appeal is our most ambitious to date, and the support of local businesses is so important to enable us to fundraise for a service which will benefit everyone in our local community. We look forward to working in partnership with them.”
