Expanding Dorset law firm Blanchards Bailey LLP is toasting the best in the county’s food and drink.
The award-winning firm partnered with the Taste of Dorset Awards for the second successive year.
Blanchards Bailey sponsored the sought-after award for the best vineyard or distillery, with Beaminster’s Black Cow Vodka coming out on top.
And to cap an excellent night for Black Cow, the company was chosen from the 13 category winners to be named Food or Drink Business of the Year.
Sarah Heath, Partner and Head of Commercial Services at Blanchards Bailey presented the category award at this week’s prestigious black tie dinner at Dorchester’s George Albert Hotel.
She said: “As a long-established Dorset business ourselves, we are proud to support county businesses and highlight the people that make them so special and successful.
“The Taste of Dorset Awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the best of Dorset’s food and drink producers, many of whom distribute to major outlets throughout the UK and export internationally – really putting our county on the map.
“I was particularly pleased to see Black Cow Vodka triumph. Not only is it a fantastic product, but the business is a shining example of the diversification so necessary for farmers these days.”
Black Cow Vodka was co-founded by Jason Barber and Paul Archard and the spirit is made using whey, a by-product from cheese production at Jason’s Childhay Manor dairy farm which has been carried out for 200 years.
Other finalists in the distilleries and vineyards category were D’Urberville Vineyard of Bradford Peverell, near Dorchester, Langham Wine Estate, Crawthorne, near Dorchester and Pothecary Gin of Christchurch.
Blanchards Bailey LLP was this month recognised more than ever before by the UK's leading law sector directory, the Legal 500, with eleven individual lawyers recommended, including all five Partners, across a record seven categories, putting the firm in Dorset’s top three.
The firm scooped the coveted Dispute Resolution Team and Private Client Team titles at the 2018 Dorset Legal Awards, also receiving a special commendation for Company Commercial Team of the year and was nominated as finalist in a record seven categories, more than any other firm.
Eighty-strong Blanchards Bailey, headquartered in Blandford and with offices in Dorchester, Shaftesbury and Weymouth, has also shown particularly strong growth over the past five years of 10 per cent a year, helping fulfil its aim to be the firm of choice in rural Dorset.
