Top ranking for law firm Blanchards Bailey

Expanding Dorset law firm Blanchards Bailey LLP has again been highly recognised by the leading guide to law firms and solicitors in the UK, the Legal 500.

The latest edition of the annual publication, The Legal 500 2019/20, mentions the firm in a record-equalling seven categories with eleven individual lawyers recommended.

These impressive results make award-winning Blanchards Bailey, which is headquartered in Blandford with offices in Poundbury, Shaftesbury and Weymouth, one of the top firms in the South West for the fifth year running.

The firm has maintained its impressive ranking in seven categories – Commercial Property, Contentious Trust & Probate and Family, Agriculture & Estates, Commercial Litigation, Employment and Personal Tax, Trusts & Probate categories.

Eleven colleagues – Partners Paul Dunlop, Jerome Dodge, and Ian Campbell, plus Claire Southway, Edward O’Brien, Lucy Mignot, Laura Martin, Emma Needham, Rachel Pullen, Meggie Crane and Stacey Brooker – were all individually recommended for their work.

Blanchards Bailey Principal Paul Dunlop said: “We are delighted to be recognised in so many different practice areas, which demonstrates the exceptional expertise and breadth of experience of our hard-working and skilled specialist teams.

“These results also show that our collective values and high quality of work in serving Dorset’s rural communities, towns and businesses are equal, if not better than that found in big name city practices.

“Blanchards Bailey is continuing to expand organically as demand for services increases across the board – and the growing trend for top name solicitors to join us from other legal firms shows no sign of abating.”

The Legal 500 says the Personal Tax, Trusts & Probate team ‘is always helpful and very friendly and professional. The team goes out of its way to provide clear and understandable information and it does not talk legal jargon’.

Also noted by the guide are several factors distinguishing the Commercial Property team from others on the local market – ‘experience, practicality, understanding of commercial property transactions, and fair value for money’.

And the Contentious Trusts & Probate team ‘is always approachable, helpful and proactive. It prepares mediation bundles thoroughly and comprehensively. The practice is a pleasure to work with. Paul Dunlop reflects this approach’.

The Legal 500 is an independent guide to law firms in the UK, with four million website hits annually, and provides reliable and up-to-date information on law firms.

Legal 500 Editor Georgina Stanley said: “These rankings reflect detailed analysis of law firm submissions and thousands of interviews with general counsels and private practice lawyers, conducted by our team of experienced researchers.”

Eighty-strong Blanchards Bailey also won a hat-trick of titles at the 2019 Dorset Legal Awards: Law Firm of the Year (up to 99 employees), Company Commercial Team of the Year and Private Client Team of the Year.
