Blanchards Bailey LLP, accredited by Investors in People, values its staff, and empowers and supports them to grow and develop. With both Employee Appreciation Day and International Women’s Day being celebrated recently, it seemed fitting to highlight why Blanchards Bailey is such a sought-after business to work for.
With a team of 100+ strong, Blanchards Bailey offers everyone the opportunity to progress their career. Key competences are defined for each role and for those that wish to ‘climb the ladder’ in their chosen specialism can and do. A perfect example of this is Caroline Walton; Caroline joined Blanchards Bailey as a Legal Secretary in 1997 and is now a partner at the firm and is head of the Residential Property Department.
The most recent person to reach a milestone in her development is Meggie Crane, who this week was certified as a Chartered Legal Executive. Meggie has studied alongside full-time work for years to achieve this qualification. Meggie is now working towards becoming an Associate of the Firm, in the Private Client department.
The Firm is continuing to grow and develop, but its core values remain the same. The comradeship of the staff makes Blanchards Bailey LLP a happy workplace. Helen Harris, Executive Assistant to Paul Dunlop, Managing Partner, and a vital member of the firm’s Litigation and Disputes team has been at the Firm since 1986. Also, Jane Richards, Executive Assistant in the firm's Commercial Property Department, has been with the Firm before Blanchards merged with Bailey and Co.
When asked what is it that has led her to stay with the Firm, Helen Harris said;
“Blanchards Bailey is a large professional standout business in Blandford Forum, where I live. Over the years working at the firm, I have always found the team I work with very friendly. One of the main factors for my long service, is that the firm have great family values and were always accommodating when I was raising a family and working. This has not changed. The Firm is also always striving to provide the very best client service.”
The Firm recently ran a training session with Over the Bloody Moon, to educate all about the stages of menopause and how it can impact women in the workplace. Legal Secretary, Charli Finney said; “I found the training very informative. I hadn’t considered how some of my colleagues might be feeling during the menopause, now I have a clear understanding of how this could affect someone’s day to day work and how I can help them.”
The Firm increased its team to over 100 people at the end of last year. Wingwai Tam, solicitor in the Litigation and Disputes department joined the Firm during lockdown and said:
“I was delighted to be offered the role within the award-winning litigation department, which is 12 strong. I could not have been made to feel more welcome and immediately felt part of the team and the firm. I was grateful to all my colleagues across the Firm that made an effort to get to know me during remote working. I am supported in my development and look forward to progressing in my career at Blanchards Bailey."
